Before coming to Japan, I was working at a radio station while studying in graduate school. And then I got married in 2018.
After that, I worked and studied in Sri Lanka for about a year. In 2019, my husband decided to live in Japan, so I quit my job and came to Japan to live with him. When I was coming to Japan, my family and friends said things like ‘Do your best’ and ‘Enjoy yourself’.
When I first arrived in Japan, life had its ups and downs. It was fun living with my husband, but I was sad because I couldn’t speak Japanese. I couldn’t do things on my own because I didn’t understand Japanese. This was very unpleasant.
Traveling with my husband was very interesting. So far, we have traveled to many places in Japan. Cooking Japanese food myself is also very interesting. Now I can even make takoyaki.
I am currently studying at a Japanese language school, so I can speak Japanese better than when I first arrived. But I’m not yet proficient. So, I am studying hard.
