I haven’t seen my friends and family since I came to Japan, and I find myself reminiscing about them often. I’m okay with my family as we talk on the phone every day, but I hardly speak with my friends. Some are busy with work, while others are married.
When I call them, I often hear, ‘Oh, let’s talk later,’ or ‘I don’t have time now, let’s talk later.’ And despite waiting, the call seldom comes. I’ve gotten used to this, but recently I’ve started to think about the past more frequently. I have two friends from university with whom I used to hang out all the time. We helped each other with our problems, though sometimes we fought. I have an unforgettable memory involving a misunderstanding with them. They thought I had spoken ill of one of them, which led to a heated argument. However, I hadn’t said anything bad. After discussing it, we understood the situation. Recently, I talked about this incident with another friend, but it wasn’t to speak ill; it was advice for their benefit. After explaining this, my friend understood and we made up. When I recall this story, it warms my heart. Youth is filled with interesting experiences. Although we can’t talk as much due to our busy lives, the memories of our friendship are unforgettable and precious to me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
It’s been two years since I moved to Japan, and it feels like it passed in the blink of an eye.
