Whether it’s a common dream or a great one, having a dream makes you a respectable person. No matter what the dream is, you have one. If you ask yourself, “What do I want to be in the future?” or “What do I like?” you might find a dream.

However, I have had vague thoughts, and I have spent days without dreams. What is a dream? What happens to a person if they have no dreams? Do they die? Without dreams, life may lose its meaning and become a boring existence. So, should we have any dream, no matter what it is?

When I was in Vietnam, I didn’t have a dream yet. I had a stable job, but I couldn’t find a dream. I felt stuck and wondered, “What should I do?” After thinking about it for a while, I finally decided to change myself.

But I didn’t know where to start. I tried to think about what I really wanted to do, asked people around me for advice, and searched the internet for hints.

I majored in Japanese at university. So, when I asked myself, “Why not study abroad in Japan?” the answer came back immediately, “Because it would be a waste to give up my current stable life, and besides, I don’t have the money to study abroad.” At that time, I became more and more negative.

However, at that moment, an opportunity appeared before me. It was a scholarship program to become a caregiver. I thought, “Isn’t this fate?” I could study Japanese as well as gain knowledge in a new field. It was a chance to experience a different culture. I still thought it was an opportunity, and my heart raced.

But then, doubts like “What if I get sick in Japan? What if I can’t make it on my own away from my family?” began to creep into my mind. At that time, another part of me said, “Why not give it a try? Being a caregiver is a good job that helps people. Happiness doesn’t come from making oneself happy alone.” With that, I made up my mind to come to Japan. I couldn’t afford to miss this opportunity. And finally, I found my dream clearly.

Now, when I see staff members working hard at their jobs, I feel their joy. I have never regretted my choices. I want to become a seasoned caregiver. I will continue to study hard and gain various experiences to make this dream come true.

If there are still people who haven’t found their dream, don’t hesitate to try what you love. The only thing that can hinder your growth is your own mindset.

Hello, everyone. When we think of dreams, what comes to mind first?
