After graduating from high school, I wanted to study Japanese, a language I had always been interested in. So, I asked my parents for permission to study Japanese. However, they were opposed to it. I hadn’t really thought about how my interest in Japanese could be useful for my future career.
Consequently, I reluctantly enrolled in a vocational school and studied hotel management. While studying, I worked in a hotel where I had the opportunity to speak with many Japanese guests. Sometimes, Japanese tour groups stayed at the hotel, and I was very impressed seeing a Vietnamese tour guide fluently guiding them in Japanese. This inspired me to learn to speak Japanese. So, I attended a Japanese language school.
After studying Japanese for about a year, I went to Macau to work in a hotel, following in my sister’s footsteps. Like in Vietnam, many Japanese guests visited the hotel in Macau. Although I hadn’t studied Japanese for a while, interacting with Japanese guests daily reignited my interest in practicing the language. Through these interactions, I began to understand a bit about the Japanese way of thinking.
What I liked the most was the politeness of the Japanese. I felt this politeness in the way Japanese businessmen spoke calmly in restaurants and in their greetings.
Not only that, but I also think Japan’s service industry is top-class in the world. Therefore, I decided to study in Japan to learn about Japanese service. I want to study Japanese hospitality and return to work in the hotel industry. In the future, I plan to go back to Vietnam and share Japanese hospitality with the Vietnamese people.
